The National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS) was established in 1992 and has since become one of the UK’s foremost accreditation and registration organisations. NPORS Paignton Training is utilised across a wide variety of sectors, including Construction, Utilities, and Industrial.

As with all of our services, NPORS Paignton provides the most flexible and cost-effective option for our clients, ensuring strict compliance and high standards are upheld without compromise.

Routes of Entry:

Various Routes of Entry for Operators into the NPORS Paignton Scheme.

Novice Training:

Novice Training is designed for learners with little or no experience in the activity or machine operation. The duration of the novice course may be shortened depending on the learner’s experience or the specific training requirements.

Refresher Training:

This is undertaken when a certificate needs to be renewed, or previous training is being updated, and the employer believes the operator will benefit from additional instruction. Operators must hold a prior certificate or have received previous training. In either case, a copy of the original certificate must be provided.

Conversion Training:

Conversion Training is for operators transitioning from one type of machine to another, for example, moving from an industrial Telescopic Handler (J5) to a Rough Terrain Telescopic Handler (J3).

The operator must hold a certificate for the original machine category before conversion.

Experience Worker Test (EWT):

This is carried out when the operator has proven experience, and their employer believes they do not need remedial training. However, this typically applies to practical operation and not to underpinning knowledge. In most cases, the theory component will require some instruction, giving the candidate the best chance to succeed.

The instructor may provide a brief theory update on the day, but it is recommended that the candidate revise beforehand.

The ratios listed below are based on the maximum number of candidates. Duration may be shortened if the candidate-to-instructor ratio is lower.
